Morwenna, Handmade figurine

£20.00Price

This sweet handmade figure stands around five inches high and looks as though she’s wandered in from the edge of the woods where it meets the sea. Her skirt is a real Winkle shell, delicately speckled and edged with tiny beads, and there’s even a little ladybird resting on one of the ridges. Above the shell is a slender hand‑painted wooden torso with simple arms and a velvet scarf

Her head is a smooth bead painted with a serene expression – closed eyes, rosy cheeks and a gentle smile. Tufts of wild, curly fibres create a tumble of hair, gathered with a halo of tiny golden beads. In one hand she carries an acorn cup filled with sparkling “treasures,” and she stands on a slice of wood decorated with small shells and beach pebbles, tying her woodland and shoreline influences together.

Morwenna is an old Cornish name connected to the sea; its roots link the Welsh word morwyn, meaning “maiden,” and “Mor” and “Gwenn,” meaning “white sea” —a nod to her shell skirt and seaside spirit.
